Julian isn’t exactly an ‘old sea dog’. But he heads out onto the waves with his Labrador patient and intrepid owner – an adventurous young lady who has broken records for swimming and sailing across oceans.

Peter rushes to his friend Abbie’s farm up on the moors, where one of her sheep is struggling to give birth. “You don’t do straight forward do you?!” Peter jokes with Abbie, as he quickly realises why she hasn’t been able to deliver the lambs herself. And that it might not be an easy job, even for him.
A local hedgehog rescue charity brings a youngster to the Huddersfield practice. Rohin thinks Tilly has an unusual, nasty eye infection and that risky surgery might be the only option. Meanwhile, Matt needs all of his exotic expertise to help a poorly parrot. And he’s shocked by the unruly behaviour of some of the other parrots at the sanctuary!
Airing directly after the new series is a one-off special episode which sees Huddersfield vet Rohin returns to his family farm in the Punjab region of northern India. He’s accompanied by his dad, as well as his friend and senior Yorkshire Vet Peter.
Their religious and cultural experiences range from the city of Amritsar’s Golden Temple – Sikhism’s holiest shrine – to a game of cricket with local youngsters in the village. But there’s also work to do, as they set up a pop up clinic in a part of rural Punjab which doesn’t have much access to veterinary expertise.
They help to rescue and operate on some of the many stray dogs injured on the city streets. And Peter gets to examine his first ever buffalo. In what turns out to be a life changing trip, Peter and Rohin are wowed by racing oxen – and even more so by an eventful tuk tuk journey to the local market!
Where they have to buy the ingredients for a traditional, home cooked Indian meal. They also witness a way of farming that dates back centuries and try to master Bhangra dancing, with its moves inspired by farming, at the Vaisakhi harvest festival.
The Yorkshire Vet returns Tuesday 26th August on 5.
