This brand-new series, presented by Anita Rani, secretly films the spending habits of cash-strapped families before confronting them with the footage.
The families come face to face for the first time with their excessive spending, to see exactly where their hard-earned money is going. Financial experts Emmanuel Asuquo and Anna Whitehouse go through every detail of each family's life: from bank statements to food wasted at the back of the freezer.
Each family undergoes a full financial makeover: from downsizing their gas guzzling campervan to renegotiating their broadband subscriptions. At the end of each episode, the family discover exactly how much they could potentially save. Secret Spenders also offers topical consumer advice and money-saving tips and practical ways of cutting costs.
In the first episode, Anita and the team have been called to Southampton to help mum Helen, who has had enough of seeing an empty bank balance, and wants help to confront her husband Andy about his constant deliveries and expensive collectibles. Secret cameras reveal the extent of Andy's spending habits once and for all.
