Gender Wars | Preview (Channel 4)
The meaning of sex and gender lies at the heart of one of the most polarised discussions of recent years. Amid the noise and fear of entrenched positions, there is a lack of much needed meaningful dialogue and often a short supply of empathy.
As politicians and institutions struggle to deal with the consequences, Gender Wars has access to people who have made their voices heard on the matter: from philosopher and writer Kathleen Stock, who left her university job after protests against her views on gender self- identification, to Professor Stephen Whittle, who has been actively involved in the campaign for transgender rights for 50 years.
But as opinions on sex and gender show no sign of becoming less divisive and toxic, this film asks what the solutions might be? Is there an end in sight to the Gender Wars?
Gender Wars airs Tuesday 30th May on Channel 4.
