Our Flag Means Death | Series 2 Preview (BBC Two)

Our Flag Means Death, which was recently axed by HBO, returns to BBC Two this February for its second - and final - series.

Our Flag Means Death is a unique new comedy loosely based on the true adventures of 18th-century would-be pirate, Stede Bonnet (Rhys Darby). Audiences will join Stede and his crew as they attempt to get their ship together and survive life on the high seas.

After trading in the seemingly charmed life of a gentleman for one of a swashbuckling buccaneer, Stede becomes captain of the pirate ship Revenge.

Struggling to earn the respect of his potentially mutinous crew, Stede's fortunes change after a fateful run-in with the infamous Captain Blackbeard (Taika Waititi), history's greatest pirate.

S2E1: As he adjusts to life without wealth, Stede struggles to find new purpose on the Republic of Pirates – until he meets a powerful new foe.

Meanwhile, a heartbroken Blackbeard fills the Stede-less void in his heart with unrelenting daily raids, sparking concern amongst Izzy and the rest of the crew.

A HBO spokesperson told The Hollywood Reporter: "While Max will not be moving forward with a third season of Our Flag Means Death, we are so proud of the joyous, hilarious, and heartfelt stories that creator David Jenkins, Taika Waititi, Rhys Darby, Garrett Basch, Dan Halsted, Adam Stein, Antoine Douaihy, and the entire superb cast and crew brought to life...

They concluded: "We also thank the dedicated fans who embraced these stories and built a gorgeous, inclusive community surrounding the show."

Our Flag Means Death returns Monday 5th February at 10pm on BBC Two.
