Five Star Kitchen: Britain's Next Great Chef | Preview (Channel 4)

In this new, high-stakes competition, 13 up-and-coming chefs battle it out to prove that they have the culinary skills and business brain to win a once-in-a-lifetime prize - the Palm Court restaurant in London's exclusive Langham hotel.

Set inside the hotel, the competition is judged by culinary legend and Langham chef Michel Roux Jr. Working with him are pastry supremo and hospitality consultant Ravneet Gill and leading global restaurateur Mike Reid.

From lavish banquets and late-night room service to an exclusive chef's table and the Langham's busy lunch service, the chefs take on a range of epic challenges designed to test the skills they need to survive in the elite world of five-star dining. Not only must they prove they can deliver five-star cuisine, but also that they have what it takes to turn a profit and run a restaurant business at the highest level.

Who has the grit, determination and business mind required to survive at the top tier of the culinary world? In this episode, as chefs from all over the world descend on The Langham to pitch their restaurant concept to Michel and his team, the judges make the tough decision of who will take the seven spots available in the competition.

The chefs must demonstrate world-class cooking skills, produce a signature dish that represents their restaurant idea, and show that they have the qualities required to survive as a Head Chef at the top tier of the culinary world. The pressure is on, and the kitchen reaches boiling point. Which chefs will fall short to face a brutal elimination cook off?

Five Star Kitchen: Britain's Next Great Chef begins Thursday 8th June on Channel 4.
