DNA Family Secrets | Series 3 Preview (BBC Two)
Over 26 million of us have taken a DNA test in the past decade. This growing popularity in genetic testing has created a network of databases that can answer questions previously impossible to know about our families, ancestry and health.
Stacey Dooley is meeting people across the UK who want to discover a mystery hidden within their genetic code.
Working with one of the UK’s leading geneticists, as well as top genealogists, social workers and doctors, they’ll use the advances in DNA technology to help reveal lost heritage, track down missing relatives and detect debilitating diseases before it’s too late.
Stacey meets ex-Olympian Sarah, who's searching for the father who returned to America before her birth. After 91-year-old Jean was evacuated during the Second World War, she was told her mother had died, but she but now has doubts and is searching for the truth.
Sisters Tanya and Kim were internationally adopted as toddlers and believe this was because of China’s one child policy - they're desperate to know about their origins, with their search more urgent than ever due to Tanya’s declining health.
DNA Family Secrets returns Wednesday 27th September at 9pm on BBC Two.
