Bangers & Cash | Series 10 Preview (U&Yesterday)

Classic car specialist Derek Matthewson and sons Paul and Dave are back for a brand new series of Bangers & Cash, following their family auction business based in picturesque Thornton-le-Dale.

In the first episode of the new series, there’s Hollywood glamour in the air as Derek heads out to pick up a Rolls Royce that once belonged to Fred Astaire. Meanwhile, an 85-year-old ex racehorse trainer hands Dave the keys to an immaculate Subaru Impreza and an E-Type Jag, while a mix up at Pickering HQ sees the wrong Ford Mexico depart for Northern Ireland.

`It’s definitely Gatsby style’ says owner Guy Hawkyard of his 1923 Rolls Royce Playboy Roadster. The car, which once belonged to Fred Astaire, oozes Hollywood glamour. Rebodied to suit the star's taste, its wire wheels, primrose yellow bodywork and dickey seat, hark back to a bygone age of motoring.

Derek is taken with it but sounds a note of caution about its chances at auction; `with the greatest respect to Fred Astaire ...who knows him’. Even so he expects its provenance to tempt any starstruck buyers out there.

Bangers & Cash returns Thursday 1st August at 8pm on U&Yesterday.
