Animal Park | Preview (BBC One)

Kate Humble and Ben Fogle have raced back to Longleat safari park in time for a spectacular summer series, and it promises to be one of the busiest seasons ever.

Every corner of the park is home to a wildly different exotic species, each with its own needs. With unique access, this series exclusively reveals the extraordinary lengths the devoted keepers are willing to go to for the creatures in their care to lead long and happy lives.

Kate and Ben are on hand to celebrate some of the extraordinary ‘firsts’ that the park has become famous for, including the arrival of a new species, the African painted dog. And can Hamza Yassin uncover a lorikeet love match in the aviary?

At the fennec fox enclosure, Zuri has just given birth to a litter of three kits. This should be a cause for celebration, but past problems with Zuri's pregnancies put the keepers on high alert. Darren, the head of animal operations, decides that the keepers should intervene and attempt to hand-rear two of them. Can they do enough to keep them alive?

Meanwhile, out in Wolf Wood, Kate gets the ride of her life when she joins carnivore keeper Kayleigh in the ‘feed wagon’.

It’s a race against time to unify a pride of lions before they turn on one of the females. Can old boys Klaus and Simba save the day? And Megan McCubbin encourages a native to return to the woods.

The keepers hold their breath as one of the biggest and most loved characters at the park gets a visit from the vet. And Hamza Yassin discovers what happens when eight lions try and play football.

Megan McCubbin finds out if you can teach an old pig new tricks. And the keepers dare to believe that Yana the Amur tiger might be pregnant.

Animal Park returns Monday 12th August at 9:30am on BBC One.
