POTTERY THROWDOWN RETURNS WITH NEW HOST AND JUDGE
Derry Girls star Siobhán McSweeney has been announced as the new presenter of More4's The Great Pottery Throwdown, replacing Melanie Sykes. Also joining the show will be new judge Richard Miller and resident critique Keith Brymer Jones will be returning for the next series.
Confirming Mel’s exit, Love Productions told Metro: "Due to the way The Great Pottery Throw Down had to be filmed in a cohort this year, Melanie wasn’t able to take part because of personal and professional commitments."
Siobhán McSweeney said: "As a genuine fan of the show, you can imagine my delight when I was asked to present the next series of The Great Pottery Throw Down. Despite assuring them I have no idea what I’m doing, Keith, Rich and the team have welcomed me to the fold with open arms...
"My calm and composed appearance on Bake Off has given me an insight into the pressures of these competitions, and I’m looking forward to comforting and cheering on our marvellous potters. I’m very excited for this new adventure and plan on having and bringing a lot of fun to the wheel."
Richard Miller added: ‘I’ve been working as Pottery technician on Throw Down since series 1 and it’s been such an inspirational and positive show to be a part of. Having the opportunity to come back as judge is extremely exciting and I’m thoroughly looking forward to working with Keith and Siobhán...
"Keith’s enthusiasm is infectious, it’s going to be great judging alongside someone whose passion for ceramics matches my own. Plus, I no longer have to have sleepless nights worrying about dropping the potter’s creations en route to the kiln!"
Transmission details will be revealed in due course.
