The first series, kept on the shelf for 14 months by ITV, was recorded in Summer 2023 and aired last Autumn after The Voice UK, often airing past 10pm. Following reasonable ratings, ITV commissioned a second series earlier this year which was recorded over the Summer.

TV Zone understands that the second series, comprising of 12 episodes, is currently earmarked to air in the new 7:30pm weekday slot which will open up in January 2026 when ITV implement their new soap schedule which will see a bumper soap hour of Emmerdale at 8pm and Coronation Street at 8:30pm every weekday.

Each episode of Password sees two celebrities pair up with contestants to give one-word clues that aim to help their teammate guess a mystery ‘password’. In a change to the previous series, the second series will see different celebrity captains each episode.

The teams must try to get on each other’s wavelengths as they take it in turns to guess the all-important password across multiple rounds - hilarious clues and even funnier guesses are all that stand in the way of lucky contestants being in with a chance to win a big cash prize.

In the absence of Series 1 regular team captains Alan Carr and Daisy May Cooper, the second series will see a host of famous faces joining returning host Stephen Mangan. These include comedian Chris McCausland, Diversity's Jordan Banjo, presenter Josie Gibson, professional dancer Oti Mabuse, comedian Lou Sanders, actor Sally Lindsay and former Rugby ace Joe Marler.

ITV have recently announced two other gameshows which will occupy the new weekday 7:30pm slot next year. Jeremy Clarkson will host a brand new Who Wants To Be A Millionaire spin-off Millionaire Hot Seat, and Adil Ray will host a new series of Celebrity Lingo.

The first series of Password is available now on ITVX.
