Defending Olympic diving champion Tom Daley is among the British athletes going for gold on what promises to be an enthralling third morning of the games in Paris.

Great Britain’s eventing team are also seeking a second successive Olympic gold, while it’s another busy morning of heats in rowing and swimming.

Daley won a memorable gold medal alongside Matty Lee three years ago in the synchronised 10m platform event and only returned to competition last December. He won world silver with Noah Williams earlier this year, and the pair will be vying to topple the Chinese in Paris.

The sculling events, in which rowers each use two oars, dominate the morning schedule at the Vaires-sur-Marne Nautical Stadium, with Great Britain’s women the reigning world and European champions in the quadruple event. Jeanette Kwayke and JJ Chalmers bring you all the best action.

Hazel Irvine guides you through what could be a golden afternoon for Team GB, with the equestrian eventing team and mountain biker Tom Pidcock defending their Olympic titles.

Versatile rider Pidcock has added world and European mountain bike titles since becoming Olympic champion in superb style in Tokyo, while Britain’s eventers are also seeking individual glory, as well as successive team gold medals, for the first time since 1972.

Great Britain’s male gymnasts also begin their quest to get on the podium in the team event, following fourth-place finishes at the most recent Olympics and World Championships.

Swimming again takes centre stage on the third evening of competition, with high expectations of British success in the men’s 200m freestyle – one of five finals in the pool.

Great Britain earned 200m freestyle gold and silver at the Tokyo Olympics, but reigning champion Tom Dean didn’t even make the team this time around. Duncan Scott will attempt to upgrade his silver medal from 2021, but teammate Matt Richards is the current world champion.
