OUR FLAG MEANS DEATH AXED AFTER TWO SERIES ON HBO AND BBC
Our Flag Means Death, the comedy series from HBO which was acquired by BBC Two in the UK, has been axed after two series, it's been revealed.
A HBO spokesperson told The Hollywood Reporter: "While Max will not be moving forward with a third season of Our Flag Means Death, we are so proud of the joyous, hilarious, and heartfelt stories that creator David Jenkins, Taika Waititi, Rhys Darby, Garrett Basch, Dan Halsted, Adam Stein, Antoine Douaihy, and the entire superb cast and crew brought to life...
They condluded: "We also thank the dedicated fans who embraced these stories and built a gorgeous, inclusive community surrounding the show."
Our Flag Means Death was a unique new comedy loosely based on the true adventures of 18th-century would-be pirate, Stede Bonnet (Rhys Darby). Audiences will join Stede and his crew as they attempt to get their ship together and survive life on the high seas.
After trading in the seemingly charmed life of a gentleman for one of a swashbuckling buccaneer, Stede becomes captain of the pirate ship Revenge.
Struggling to earn the respect of his potentially mutinous crew, Stede's fortunes change after a fateful run-in with the infamous Captain Blackbeard (Taika Waititi), history's greatest pirate.
The HBO Max Original comedy series Our Flag Means Death was executive produced by Academy Award® winner Waititi, alongside showrunner David Jenkins, Emmy®-nominated producer Garrett Basch, and Dan Halsted.
