WHO WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE RETURNS TO ITV WITH JEREMY CLARKSON

IF YOU MISSED IT

Jeremy Clarkson will return as host of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire when the brand new series airs on ITV1 next year.

Due to ITV's coverage of the Rugby World Cup, the show has been pushed back in the schedules and will now air in 2024 - meaning no series would have aired this year. ITV have also moved Grantchester and The Jonathan Ross Show into 2024 for the same reason.

The series was record in February of the this year weeks after Clarkson's controversial column about Meghan Markle. ITV was forced to cancel filming of celebrity specials, reportedly due to celebrities refusing to appear on the show opposite Clarkson.

Following false reports that ITV had 'axed' the series, the broadcaster released the following statement: "As we have said for several weeks, ITV is contractually committed to a further series of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? (which has now been recorded.). here are no further commissioning commitments beyond that currently as is typical with such shows where we make commissioning decisions on a series by series basis."

They added: "Therefore for the avoidance of doubt neither Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? nor Jeremy Clarkson have been cancelled."

The global hit game show Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? returned to ITV in May 2018, hosted by Clarkson, to celebrate it’s 20th anniversary and in 2020, the series crowned its first millionaire in 14 years.

Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? sees members of the public hoping to get a chance to win a life-changing £1,000,000. The contestants put their knowledge to the test in front of the nation as they try to answer the 15 questions to win the £1,000,000 prize, helped along the way by four lifelines; 50:50, Phone a Friend, Ask The Host and with the return of Ask the Audience.

Who Wants To Be A Millionaire is available to stream on ITVX. More details about the upcoming series will be announced in due course.
