WHO WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE: ITV CLARIFIES 'AXED' REPORTS

Some outlets have falsely reported that ITV had axed the classic gameshow.

An ITV spokesperson said: "As we have said for several weeks, ITV is contractually committed to a further series of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? (which has now been recorded.)...

"There are no further commissioning commitments beyond that currently as is typical with such shows where we make commissioning decisions on a series by series basis. Therefore for the avoidance of doubt neither Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? nor Jeremy Clarkson have been cancelled.”

Last month, ITV were forced to postpone filming for the upcoming series of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? Celebrity Specials, which was due to commence filming in February, following Jeremy Clarkson's controversial column in The Sun newspaper about Meghan Markle.

The global hit game show Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? returned to ITV in May 2018, hosted by Clarkson, to celebrate it’s 20th anniversary and in 2020, the series crowned its first millionaire in 14 years.

Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? sees members of the public hoping to get a chance to win a life-changing £1,000,000. The contestants put their knowledge to the test in front of the nation as they try to answer the 15 questions to win the £1,000,000 prize, helped along the way by four lifelines; 50:50, Phone a Friend, Ask The Host and with the return of Ask the Audience.

Who Wants To Be A Millionaire is available to stream on ITVX.
