THE MASKED SINGER SET FOR CHRISTMAS SPECIAL ON ITV

EXCLUSIVE

ITV have commissioned a one-off Christmas special of The Masked Singer to air this year, in addition to a second I'm A Celebrity special, TV Zone can reveal.

The show will return to ITV1 next month for its second I'm A Celebrity special ahead of the reality show's return. TV Zone can reveal that the show will then return in December with a one-off special for Christmas special.

Hosted by Joel Dommett, the Christmas special will see four reveals of famous faces. Davina McCall, Jonathan Ross, Mo Gilligan and Rita Ora will be joined by a big name celebrity guest on the festive panel.

Part guessing game and part singing show, the spectacular series sees 12 famous faces compete to pull off the best performance, with their identity elaborately and imaginatively concealed, thanks to an expert team of talented costume designers.

TV Zone exclusively revealed over the summer that judging panel for the series will remain unchanged. Returning to the show alongside host Joel Dommett are Davina McCall, Mo Gilligan, Rita Ora and Jonathan Ross.

However, it's since been announced that Rita will be joining the panel of The Masked Singer USA. Date clashes means she will be unable to film some episodes of the UK series this year. Instead, ITV will be introducing new celebrity guest panellists.

Katie Rawcliffe, head of entertainment at ITV, previously said: "The Masked Singer has once again established itself as unmissable event television, keeping the nation guessing throughout its glorious eight-week run. We’re already counting down to see who’s hiding behind those infamous masks and look forward to welcoming the series back next year."

TV Zone exclusively revealed earlier this year that ITV have no plans for another series of The Masked Dancer, with the broadcaster opting to rest the show instead.

The Masked Singer airs on ITV1 and ITVX.
