THE MASKED DANCER: ITV 'KEEN TO SIGN STRICTLY STAR OTI MABUSE FOR PANEL'
After the success of The Masked Singer, ITV have reportedly secured the rights to its spin-off series The Masked Dancer, which has already aired in the US.
New reports suggest ITV are keen to sign Strictly pro dancer Oti Mabuse to join the panel, alongside Davina McCall, Mo Gilligan and Jonathan Ross.
A source told The Mirror: "Viewers have been watching Rita on Saturday nights for weeks, but the Masked Singer was recorded way before her birthday bash at the end of November. Such a lot of effort goes into keeping the talent and crew safe while making it – many people felt let down by the way Rita behaved. She has not done herself any favours."
On Oti, the insider told The Mirror: "With her dance experience and popularity with audiences, she'd be perfect for The Masked Dancer. Everyone's very hopeful that she'll sign."
A source revealed to The Sun last weekend that ITV had formerly acquired the rights to the show, which is due to begin filming this Summer.
The source told The Sun: "Everyone’s really excited about The Masked Dancer, it’s a huge success in the USA so producers can’t wait to bring it to the UK. Like The Masked Singer it is brilliant fun with high production values and everyone is convinced it’ll be a hit this side of the pond...
"ITV struck the deal over the rights to the format at the start of this week and now the producers are compiling a team to start work on it. It’s still very early days and casting has yet to properly begin on the show, which they hope can be filmed this summer...
"After Britain’s Got Talent had to be delayed they wanted another big show to fill that gap and The Masked Dancer has it all – stars, music and performances."
