LAST TANGO IN HALIFAX: NO PLANS FOR SIXTH SERIES OF BBC DRAMA

Last Tango In Halifax, the Bafta-winning series following the surprising and uplifting journey of Celia and Alan as they rekindle a passionate relationship after 60 years apart, will not be returning for a sixth series.

Star of the BBC series, which has aired five series, Anne Reid has said there's no plans for a sixth series of the drama, however did bring up the idea of a Christmas special.

Speaking on Good Morning Britain, Anne said: "I think a Christmas special would be nice, we wouldn’t do another series. It would be lovely. I know Derek would be up for it. And I've talked to Sarah, I don't know about Nicola."

Anne led the cast of the drama alongside Derek Jacobi. The duo were joined by Sarah Lancashire, Nicola Walker, Tony Gardner, Dean Andrews and Ronni Ancona. The drama sees would-be childhood sweethearts Alan (Jacobi) and Celia (Reid) reunited after 60 years. As their lives collide for a second time, Alan and Celia lament over what might have been as they take us on a life-affirming journey of what can still happen!

All five series of Last Tango In Halifax are available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
