NEW AND RETURNING GAMESHOWS KEPT ON THE SHELF BY ITV
From new series Passwords to returning daytime and primetime hits in Lingo and Beat The Chasers, here's a rundown some of the gameshows that ITV are seemingly keeping on the shelf to save money - something that's facing all commercial broadcasters.
PASSWORD
Word association game starring Alan Carr and Daisy May Cooper as resident Team Captains, with Stephen Mangan running the show as host. Alan and Daisy each pair up with contestants and give one-word clues to help their teammate guess a mystery “password”.
The series was filmed early Summer 2023 and is expected to air this Autumn.
BEAT THE CHASERS
Bradley Walsh and the six Chasers will return to ITV1 for a brand new sixth series of primetime quiz Beat The Chasers. The series was filmed in Spring 2023 and is yet to air. As a result, no series is expected to film this year.
More brave quizzers will put their skills to the ultimate test for those big-money prizes, but will anyone have the skills and bravery to take on the full iconic line-up: Mark ‘the Beast’ Labbett, Anne ‘the Governess’ Hegerty, Shaun ‘the Dark Destroyer’ Wallace, Jenny ‘The Vixen’ Ryan, Paul ‘The Sinnerman’ Sinha and Darragh ‘The Menace’ Ennis?
LINGO
Not only do ITV have half of Series 3 on the shelf (filmed in 2022), but they also have an entire fourth series which was filmed last year. The fourth series will be the first to introduce a new winner-stays-on format. Any team that gets to the final round is guaranteed a place on the following episode giving them the opportunity to accumulate a larger prize pot throughout the series.
As a result of ITV keeping Series 4 on the shelf, no series is expected to film this year. ITV have given no indication on when Series 3 (Part 2) and Series 4 will air.
FAMILY FORTUNES
Family Fortunes, the iconic gameshow hosted by Gino D’Acampo, will soon return to screens with a brand-new 10 x 60 series. Last year's series aired in the first half of the year due to the Ruby World Cup. This year, the series will return to its annual Autumn slot. This series was filmed in October 2023.
TIPPING POINT LUCKY STARS
The celebrity spin-off of the format sees famous faces take on the machine in the hopes of winning £20,000 for a charity of their choice. The series returns late October for a 7 episode run through into December, airing Sundays at 7pm.
