ITV ANNOUNCES ITV1 AUGUST PROGRAMMING HIGHLIGHTS
ITV announce programming highlights coming to ITV1 (linear channel) in August 2023.
The Reunion
The Reunion, the six-part drama based on the French best-seller and starring Ioan Gruffudd, will air on ITV in August.
Marston Bloom (Selection Day, Marcella) penned the adaptation of Musso’s hit novel, which was originally published in France by Calmann-Lévy in 2018 and in UK by Weidenfeld & Nicolson in 2019 has sold more than two million copies worldwide in more than 35 languages.
The story opens in the present day, at a high school reunion in the south of France where three former friends reconnect. They grew apart and lost touch, but they are still bound by a tragic secret tied to the disappearance of a high school girl who went missing 25 years ago in the region.
The Confessions of Frannie Langton
Karla-Simone Spence (Blue Story, Wannabe) leads the cast in the role of Frannie Langton, the drama’s young protagonist born into a life of slavery who is fighting to tell her own story. She is joined by Sophie Cookson (The Trial of Christine Keeler, Kingsman: The Secret Service) as Madame Marguerite Benham and Patrick Martins (Redemption, Blasts From The Past) as Olaudah “Laddie” Cambridge in the murder mystery drama.
Also starring in the historically authentic adaptation is Stephen Campbell Moore (War of The Worlds, The One) as renowned scientist and husband to Madame, George Benham. Joining him are Steven Mackintosh (Rocketman, Wanderlust) as John Langton and Amarah-Jae St. Aubyn (Small Axe) as
Sal.
Set against the dazzling opulence of Georgian London, The Confessions of Frannie Langton, narrates Frannie’s journey from a Jamaican plantation to the grand Mayfair mansion of celebrated scientist George Benham and his exquisitely beautiful wife, Madame Marguerite Benham.
The Tower II: Death Message
The new series - The Tower II: Death Message - is based on Kate London’s brilliant second novel, and is adapted by screenwriter Patrick Harbinson (Homeland, Fearless, 24, ER) and produced by his company Windhover Films and leading production company, Mammoth Screen.
Starring alongside Gemma Whelan as DS Sarah Collins is Tahirah Sharif, who was recently BAFTA-nominated for her role as PC Lizzie Adama, alongside Emmett J Scanlan as DI Kieran Shaw and Jimmy Akingbola as DC Steve Bradshaw.
