ITV 'TO REBOOT STARS IN THEIR EYES UNDER NEW NAME STARSTRUCK'

Reports: ITV is to reboot iconic series Stars In Their Eyes, under the new name Starstruck, with actress Sheridan Smith as one of the celebrity judges.

A source told The Sun: "Starstruck is a new take on the classic Stars In Their Eyes and will see the public living out their dreams on stage as their idols. The show was supposed to get moving this year but the pandemic delayed everything. Now its back on track and the plan is to get it on air next autumn...

"Sheridan is the perfect fit for the show as one of the judges. Her job will be to critique the acts and then give them advice after they have performed. Along with being a fantastic actress, Sheridan is a talented singer and after playing Cilla Black in the ITV show about her life, she knows a thing or two about impersonating amazing singers...

"Everyone working on the show is really excited. Casting has begun and Sheridan is itching to get started."

UPDATED: Queen frontman Adam Lambert has reportedly signed up as one of the judges.

An insider told The Sun: "Adam was delighted to be asked to join Starstruck and he snapped up the offer. As part of Queen his hob is not to replace Freddie but to emulate his brilliance on stage, which he has done to huge success...

"And now he'll be helping wannabe singers to do the same with their idols. Adam is a talented artist in his own right and bosses believed he was the perfect person to sit alongside Sheridan. Adam is fun, lively and isn't afraid to speak his mind. He seems a great fit alongside Sheridan and bosses are hopeful they'll make a great on-screen duo."
