I LIKE THE WAY U MOVE: BBC DANCE-DATING COMPETITION AXED - DESPITE RECOMMISSION
EXCLUSIVE
The BBC dance-dating series, in which single professional dancers and rookie non-dancers compete to find a connection both on and off the dance floor, has been axed after one series - despite being recommissioned for a second.
I Like The Way U Move, which was fronted by Strictly star Jamie Laing, was recommissioned for a second series in Autumn 2021, just a week after the first series landed on BBC iPlayer.
At the time, BBC Three's Fiona Campbell said: “I Like The Way The U Move is such an inclusive series with huge ambition and spectacular dances. It’s an original take on the dating show and we’re really behind it, so we wanted to show our commitment to the format with this recommission. It has all the ingredients and potential to be a hit for BBC Three and we hope audiences are getting stuck into the series that has just landed on BBC iPlayer.”
However, TV Zone can now reveal that the series has been shelved and that a second series will not be happening.
A BBC spokesperson told TV Zone: "Whilst we are proud of I Like The Way U Move and would like to thank everyone involved in the production, sometimes difficult decisions have to be made and therefore the show will not be returning for a second series."
Guest judges on the first series included Lady Leshurr, Clara Amfo, Oti Mabuse, Layton Williams, Giovanni Pernice, Maisie Smith and Johannes Radebe. World-renowned choreographer Kaelynn ‘KK’ Harris joined Jamie every week as the show's resident dance expert.
I Like The Way U Move is available to watch on BBC iPlayer. I Like The Way U Move was a BBC Studios Production for BBC Three.
