PREVIEW: Frank Of Ireland, Channel 4
Brand new comedy starring Brian and Domhnall Gleeson. Frank of Ireland is a physical and ridiculous brand of humour with an original twist.
Frank Marron (Brian Gleeson) is a 32-year-old catastrophe: a misanthropic, narcissistic fantasist in arrested development who thinks that the world owes him something. But nonetheless, he's our comedy hero. They don't all wear capes, OK?!
In the opening episode, Frank is shocked to hear that his ex-girlfriend, Áine (Sarah Greene), has a new boyfriend - after all, they only broke up six years ago. Frank and his best friend Doofus (Domhnall Gleeson) head to Áine's grandmother's wake, where they find Áine with Peter-Brian (Tom Vaughan-Lawlor), a doctor and expert in MMA (that's mixed martial arts).
Feeling threatened by Peter-Brian, Frank decides that he's going to learn MMA himself, and he also secures a 'gig' playing at Áine's grandmother's funeral. Will Frank master MMA, or will he keep confusing it with MDMA? And will the 'gig' be a success - impressing Áine in the process - or will it end in disaster?
The entire box set will be available to stream or download, for free on All 4, following transmission of the first episode, on Thursday 15 April.
