FOODMASTER: ED GAMBLE PILOTS TASKMASTER SPIN-OFF FOR CHANNEL 4

IF YOU MISSED IT

Channel 4 are set to pilot a spin-off series of Taskmaster which will focus on food and drink, according to reports. The pilot will be hosted by comedian and former Taskmaster contestant Ed Gamble, reports British Comedy Guide.

A source told The Sun: "Everything is better once you add food and drink. The show promises to deliver all that Taskmaster goodness and more. Greg and Alex won’t be involved in this one but the team are ready to film the pilot soon and Channel 4 will then consider taking it to a full run."

Earlier this year, Channel 4 and Avalon have announced the launch of new children-focused entertainment show Junior Taskmaster following the continuing success of ratings and critical hit Taskmaster, which is also renewed for a further six series by the broadcaster.

BAFTA nominated comedian, writer, and actor Rose Matafeo, and critically-acclaimed writer and performer Mike Wozniak will front Junior Taskmaster. Matafeo is set to assume the role of the mighty Junior Taskmaster to score the efforts as Wozniak diligently takes notes, records statistics and efficiently administers each and every task in the show that recognises genius at any age.

Phil Harris, Head of Entertainment and Live Events for Channel 4 said, “We’ve seen some brilliantly memorable task-tackling talent in recent series and I’m delighted Alex and Greg are bringing our viewers even more of the award-winning Taskmaster. After the success of our Taskmaster’s New Years’ Treat specials to be able to extend the Taskmaster universe with Junior Taskmaster is incredibly exciting.”

More details about Foodmaster will be revealed in due course.
