EGGHEADS: CHANNEL 5 'SHELVE' QUIZ SHOW WITH FUTURE OF SERIES IN DOUBT
Channel 5 have reportedly shelved classic quiz format Eggheads after four series since the format was rebooted by Channel 5 having previously aired on BBC Two.
TV Zone understands that, whilst the show has been shelved, Channel 5 have not ruled out returning to the format, hosted by Jeremy Vine and made by 12 Yard Productions, in the future. The last series was filmed in 2022 and aired in Spring 2023.
The series sees challengers take on the renowned quizzing goliaths, across a series of hard hitting, high-brow general knowledge question rounds. If the Eggheads win, the prize fund continues to roll over until they can be beaten.
Jeremy Vine told The Sun: "I haven't heard anything about Eggheads for a while now. I think I have done about 1200 shows - but whether we are doing any more I don't know." We last filmed an episode over a year ago. It may well be we are doing it in 30 years' time, who knows, but no immediate plans for any more."
Eggheads is available on My5.
