IN PICTURES: NEW DOCTOR WHO 60th ANNIVERSARY TRAILER
Moments before the Eurovision Song Contest Grand Final came live from Liverpool in the UK, viewers were transported out of this world as an explosive new trailer gave viewers a glimpse of what to expect later this year.
The TARDIS lands in time to celebrate its 60th anniversary, and the trailer exclusively revealed the titles of the three hour-long specials coming later this year:
Special One: The Star Beast
Special Two: Wild Blue Yonder
Special Three: The Giggle
In the weeks leading up to the Eurovision Song Contest Grand Final, three mysterious coded teasers were scattered through the UK's BBC One schedule. Each teaser included a binary code which gave eagle-eyed fans clues to one of the three special episode titles. The teasers all pointed to a big reveal on the night of the Eurovision Grand Final when the new trailer announced the new titles.
If you missed them, they are available on the official Doctor Who social channels. Russell T. Davies said: "The titles are just the beginning of the Doctor's biggest adventure yet. Autumn is coming, with three hours of danger, Donna and disaster about to be unleashed!"
With David Tennant back as the Doctor, the three specials will air in November 2023 before Ncuti Gatwa takes control of the TARDIS over the festive season. The specials also star Catherine Tate, Yasmin Finney and Neil Patrick Harris.
Jacqueline King will be reprising her role as Donna’s mother Sylvia, and Karl Collins as Donna’s long suffering husband, Shaun. The show also welcomes Ruth Madeley who will be appearing as Shirley Anne Bingham.
Talking about the future, Russell T Davies, Showrunner previously said: “We’ve got plenty more surprises on the way! The path to Ncuti’s Fifteenth Doctor is laden with mystery, horror, robots, puppets, danger and fun! And how is it connected to the return of the wonderful Donna Noble? How, what, why?”
Doctor Who is available on BBC iPlayer.
