DOPESTICK: DISNEY+ DRAMA ACQUIRED BY BBC TWO

Dopesick examines how one company triggered the worst drug epidemic in American history. The series takes viewers to the epicenter of America's struggle with opioid addiction, from the boardrooms of Big Pharma, to a distressed Virginia mining community, to the hallways of the DEA.



Defying all the odds, heroes will emerge in an intense and thrilling ride to take down the craven corporate forces behinds this national crisis and their allies. The limited series is inspired by the New York Times bestselling book by Beth Macy.


In the first episode, Richard Sackler begins to launch a powerful new painkiller. But is the drug safe enough to be released? A rural doctor is introduced to the revolutionary powers of OxyContin by a driven pharmaceutical salesman.



A young coal miner plans her future, unaware of what lies ahead. A DEA agent learns about a racket in black market prescription pills. And federal prosecutors decide to open a case into the Sackler's 'wonder drug'.


In the second episode, OxyContin hits the market as Purdue Pharma's vast influence spreads across the country to small towns like Finch Creek. Soon enough, patient feedback casts doubts over some of the marketing campaign's claims, but misgivings are met with a doubling down of the drug company's efforts.


Bridget steps outside her DEA authority to find addiction is spreading like wildfire. The criminal investigation of OxyContin begins.
