GABRIELLE BLACKMAN 'TO FRONT DIY SOS CHILDREN IN NEED SPECIAL'

The DIY SOS presenter broke BBC advertising rules by appearing in an advert for Shreddies in a similar role he does on the BBC series.

Nick and the BBC have now resolved this matter. It means Nick can continue to present the series when it returns in 2022. However, due to the ongoing ad campaign, he will not be allowed to present the Children In Need special which is being filmed this Summer.

The Sun are reporting that Gabrielle Blackman - a well known interior designer - will front the special.

Nick said: "I have always said that DIY SOS is more than just a presenting job for me, it’s part of me. It has my heart and working for the BBC for over 22 years is something I have never taken for granted. I will continue filming new episodes of DIY SOS over the coming months and will be back on your screens with the purple shirts next year."

He continued: "The DIY SOS Children In Need special will air in November with a guest presenter and I will be cheering them on from the sidelines."

A BBC spokesperson said: "Both Nick and the BBC have resolved the issue recently reported relating to Nick’s commercial agreements and BBC guidelines...

"Nick is an important member of the BBC family and we are pleased thats this matter is resolved. We will resume filming DIY SOS as soon as it’s safe to do so and Nick will be back on screens in 2022."
