CHANNEL 4 FOLLOW BABY REINDEERS FOR NEW DOCUMENTARY

Whenever you see a reindeer at a festival event, it's likely come not from Lapland but from the Cairngorm mountains in Scotland; home to the UK's only reindeer herd.

This documentary heads for the stunning Scottish Highlands, and a community of dedicated herders, to follow a group of young reindeer preparing for their first-ever Christmas.

In the shadow of Covid, the team go to great lengths to ensure that the unique process of nurturing and training the herd isn't disturbed.

The film follows an orphaned reindeer calf who battles against the odds to be part of the festivities; and the reindeer learning to pull the Christmas sleigh for the first time. There's also a look at the natural history of these fascinating animals.

Baby Reindeer School airs Christmas Eve at 6:40pm on Channel 4.
