THE CHALLENGE UK FACING UNCERTAIN FUTURE ON CHANNEL 5

The Challenge UK is facing an uncertain future on Channel 5, TV Zone understands.

Channel 5 are yet to commission a second series of the reality competition, over a year since the first series was filmed and aired in the UK. A Paramount spokesperson told TV Zone that no decision had yet been made.

TV Zone understands a second series has not yet been commissioned by Channel 5 or Paramount, though the broadcaster are not ruling out returning to the format in the UK following its success worldwide.

The UK series, which follows the breakout success of the format worldwide, sees some of the UK’s finest stars from sports and entertainment join host Mark Wright to fight for their share of £100,000 and the title of Challenge Champion.

These stars have a track record full of parties, hook-ups, and memorable one-liners, but none have ever played The Challenge before.

Stars who took part in the first series included Love Island star Curtis Pritchard and his Strictly Come Dancing pro dancer brother AJ Pritchard; Geordie Short's Nathan Henry, The Only Way Is Essex's James Lock, Love Island's Kaz Crossley and The Only Way Is Essex star Ella Rae Wise.

The Challenge UK is available on My5.
