ITV 'POSTPONE' CELEBRITY MILLIONAIRE SPECIALS FOLLOWING CLARKSON FALLOUT

ITV have reportedly postponed filming for the upcoming series of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? Celebrity Specials, which was due to commence filming in February, following Jeremy Clarkson's controversial column in The Sun newspaper about Meghan Markle.

The Mail+ has reported that production has been forced to delay filming on the Celebrity Specials, which were due to film next month. At time of writing, the 'normal' series of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? is still scheduled to film in February.

The Mail+ report: "The studio, crew and celebrities were all booked to attend the Dock 10 studio in Manchester and arrangements for the programmes – which would have raised money for charity – were finalised...

"However, at the end of last week, the production company told participants that filming had been postponed due to ‘scheduling issues’. An email said: ‘Owing to some movement in the ITV schedules, we’re now unable to record the planned Celebrity specials until later this year.’"

TV Zone understands ITV will fulfil it's commissioning commitments for another of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire. No series have been commissioned beyond this year. ITV declined to comment when approached by TV Zone.

The global hit game show Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? returned to ITV in May 2018, hosted by Clarkson, to celebrate it’s 20th anniversary and in 2020, the series crowned its first millionaire in 14 years.

Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? sees members of the public hoping to get a chance to win a life-changing £1,000,000. The contestants put their knowledge to the test in front of the nation as they try to answer the 15 questions to win the £1,000,000 prize, helped along the way by four lifelines; 50:50, Phone a Friend, Ask The Host and with the return of Ask the Audience.

Who Wants To Be A Millionaire is available to stream on ITVX.
