Channel 5 was the "highest-gaining terrestrial channel in 2021 in terms of individuals viewing and ABC1 viewers" according to BARB data.

During 2021, ViacomCBS owned Channel 5 saw its strongest year since 2009, with primetime (7-11pm) viewing increasing 11% year-on-year. This is the highest margin of any other public service broadcaster.

Channel 5's digital platform My5 saw its second consecutive best performing year on record, with a 36% year-on-year growth in streams and 31% year-on-year growth in viewing hours. New drama The Drowning became the platform's biggest show in its history.

Ben Frow, Director Of Programmes at ViacomCBS said: "I’m pleased that 2021 was Channel 5’s best year ever, with success on the linear channel mirrored on My5. We’ve built on our factual successes and reached new viewers by continuing to elevate our drama slate, with stand-out shows like All Creatures Great & Small driving ratings success...

"It’s clear that a combination of drama, alongside talent-led factual programmes taking viewers to places they want to see, is proving to be a winning formula."

Channel 5’s share of total viewing increased by 5% year-on-year, with ABC1s up 7%. In the 7pm timeslot, viewers were up 14%. In the 8pm slot, viewers were up 13%. During the 2021 festive period, Channel 5 saw its best performing Christmas since 2005 with 5.23% share of viewers.

Channel 5 is available on Sky channel 105.
