C4 POSTPONES NATIONAL COMEDY AWARDS CEREMONY

Channel 4 has postponed the date for the first National Comedy Awards for Stand Up To Cancer due to Coronavirus concerns.

The winners were due to be announced by Tom Allen at a glitzy ceremony at the Camden Roundhouse in London on December 15th, with the ceremony airing exclusively on Channel 4 on Friday 17th.

This ceremony has now been postponed (new date to be confirmed). A Channel 4 spokesperson confirmed: "Due to the uncertainty around the Omicron variant we have decided to postpone this large-scale event."

The National Comedy Awards for Stand Up To Cancer will honour both emerging and established British comedy talent, with the public voting on key prizes, alongside two additional special recognition awards.

The categories honour the genre in all its forms with nods to fan-favourites across recent scripted and unscripted comedy, live shows, and the latest, podcast jokers all vying for votes.

A 'best of' show for Celebrity Gogglebox - originally scheduled for 8pm on Friday 17th - will now air in its place at 9pm. A factual programme on Sainsbury's takes the 8pm slot.
