CORRIE'S BILL ROACHE TO CELEBRATE 90th BIRTHDAY WITH ITV DOCUMENTARY

ITV are to mark Coronation Street legend William Roache's birthday next month a special documentary titled 'Happy Birthday Bill'.

The actor has played Ken Barlow on ITV's Coronation Street since the first episode way back in 1960. He holds the Guinness World Record as the longest-running soap star on television.

The one-off documentary will celebrate Bill's life and career as well as looking back at the many explosive storylines during his six plus decades on the cobbles with the help of his fellow cast members.

Viewers will be given a rare glimpse of Bill's personal life outside of Coronation Street set at home with his family and will provide an insight into Bill's life before Coronation Street as he returns to his old army barracks in which he served before making a move into acting.

Roache said: "I don't feel nearly 90 at all. The Coronation Street cast are like a second family to me and I can't quite believe I've been lucky enough to play Ken Barlow for over 60 years...

"It's also been lovely revisiting past memories and remembering all the wonderful things I have seen and done over the years. I hope the viewers enjoy watching the documentary as much as I did making it."

Happy Birthday Bill will air this Spring on ITV and ITV Hub.
