BEAUTY QUEEN AND SINGLE: NEW SERIES ANNOUNCED FOR BBC THREE
Beauty Queen And Single made by Northern Ireland independent production company Stellify is coming soon to BBC Three, BBC iPlayer and BBC One Northern Ireland.
The unique dating experiment challenges self-confessed “beauty queens” to ditch their flawless perfection and embrace their natural beauty by going on five dates, with five guys, wearing no make-up.
The full four-part series will be available on BBC iPlayer from Sunday 18 December with episode one broadcasting on BBC Three later that evening at 8.30pm. The series will also broadcast on BBC One Northern Ireland from Tuesday 3 January at 10.40pm.
In an exciting format twist this series will see original Beauty Queen And Single cast member Gemma Garrett, herself a former Miss Great Britain and full-time make-up artist, as the series’ new on-screen confidante to our new cast of beauty queens endeavouring to find love.
She supports the four girls as they undergo a dramatic “make-under” to expose their natural beauty before heading off on a series of dates with five specially selected – and completely unknown – suitors.
While the featured girl enjoys the dates, the three remaining girls – and Gemma – follow the action from the safety of the sofa providing supportive and humorous commentary throughout.
The series kicks off with 25 year-old Lisa-Marie, a skincare-specialist and entrepreneur from Rostrevor who loves to look glam. Full of fun, she’s looking for someone to share her ambition and passion for life with, but will stripping off her make-up to meet five perfect strangers lead to total trauma... or true love?
Since the first series of Beauty Queen And Single aired on BBC One NI in 2017 the series has seen editions on BBC Scotland and BBC Wales as well as internationally.
Fiona Campbell, Controller, BBC Three says: “I am delighted that Beauty Queen And Single is coming to BBC Three. It’s a fresh and fun take on the dating show format our audiences know and love and I hope that they will be hooked when all four episodes land on BBC Three and BBC iPlayer.”
Justin Binding, Commissioning Executive, BBC Northern Ireland: “The format has proven very successful since its first outing on BBC Northern Ireland five years ago. We are delighted that audiences throughout the UK will be able to watch this new batch of beauty queens embark on this unique dating experiment on the BBC iPlayer and on BBC Three. Fingers crossed they find some love along the way.”
Kieran Doherty, CEO Stellify says: “Beauty Queen And Single has been on an amazing journey. From BBC Northern Ireland to BBC Wales to BBC Scotland (and Finland, Holland and Poland) and now we're excited to announce it's coming to BBC Three.”
