BBC SCRAPS PLANS FOR 'RAT IN THE KITCHEN'

The BBC has declined a full series of new cookery programme Rat In The Kitchen, after a pilot was made last year.

The show would see six professional chefs and home cooks compete in a series of challenges which earns them cash for each dish that impresses the judge. The twist - one of the group is deliberately trying to sabotage the team. If they succeed in receiving bad reviews for the group, they take home the total prize fund instead.

Though the BBC have confirmed the decision, no formal reasons were given. However, Broadcast understands that restrictions in place due to the pandemic have been a significant factor in the decision making.

ITV Studios - the production company - is said to be looking to other broadcasters for the format.
