UKTV has recommissioned four more series of the award-winning factual entertainment series, Bangers & Cash (52x60’) for its factual channel U&YESTERDAY and free streaming service, U. Spin-off sister show, Bangers & Cash: Restoring Classics has also been re-ordered for four more series. (20x60’).

The 72-episode order surpasses all previous commissions or recommissions by UKTV in terms of number of hours and episodes, and will ensure new episodes of both series are air on well into 2028.
Produced by Air TV, Bangers & Cash follows the work of the family-run classic car auction house, Mathewsons, based in the picturesque area of North Yorkshire. The vast knowledge and unique charm of the Mathewson family, coupled with the stories behind the vintage vehicles and their owners, generates an unapologetically authentic and warm programme.
Bangers & Cash: Restoring Classics sees the Bangers production team demonstrate how difficult it can be to make money buying, restoring, and selling classic cars as they take (or ignore) advice from the Mathewsons to purchase a vehicle at a Mathewsons auction, send it for a professional restoration and then re-auction it.
Bangers & Cash continues to be U&YESTERDAY’s top performing title. Series 12 (which premieres today – July 31, 8pm) and Series 13 (TX Q1 2026) had already been commissioned. The new order will see the four new series air from next year, along with the four new series of Bangers & Cash: Restoring Classics.
Tracy-Jean, Commissioning Executive, Factual & Factual Entertainment, UKTV, said: “In the current broadcast market commissions of this size are as rare as a well-preserved barn find. We wanted to demonstrate how highly we value Air TV, the Mathewsons and our loyal audience by locking down these valuable modern classics.”
Air TV’s Andy Joynson, commented: “A simple idea, a great family of auctioneers, much loved classics and a lot of fun. UKTV have been so supportive and have allowed the programme to be what the audience wants, and this record order is the result. The whole production team is so proud of what we have collectively achieved. Roll on episode 200!”
Adam Collings, Director of Programming, Factual & Factual Entertainment, UKTV, added: “Since April 2019 Bangers & Cash has been delighting those that know their Austins from the ACs, their fast Fords from their Ferraris and who take delight in the finding and onward journeys of a vast array of motors. I’m delighted to say that thanks to the audience, the Mathewsons and the wonderful job that Air TV do, there’s plenty left in the Bangers tank yet.”
Derek Mathewson said: “It still amazes us how much everyone has taken to the show and people are constantly telling us how much the show means to them, which is lovely. So it’s great news that UKTV and Air TV want to continue to follow us and what we do. I’m pretty sure they’ll get the hang of it soon as well!”
Bangers & Cash and Bangers & Cash: Restoring Classics are in production now and will continue to air in the UK on U&YESTERDAY.
