ALEXANDER ARMSTRONG TRAVELS TO INDIA FOR LATEST SERIES ON 5
Coming later this year to 5, a brand-new series Alexander Armstrong In India produced by Burning Bright Productions. It follows Alexander’s recent hit series’ for 5 in Iceland, South Korea and Sri Lanka.

This time Alexander Armstrong embarks on an epic journey across India to explore how a nation that gained independence 77 years ago is now a rising global superpower. With the world’s largest population – 1.4 billion and counting - what do India’s history, traditions, and people reveal about its rapid ascent?
In this three-part series, Alexander will travel thousands of miles across the country, taking in some of the country’s most famous cities en route; Delhi, Jaipur, Mumbai and Bengaluru. He’ll be exploring how India, a country full of traditional and distinct populations is changing at a pace as it takes its place as a country to rival the historic global powers.
And on this epic trail he’ll also experience the beautiful and diverse landscapes which reveal the cultural heart and history of the country. He will discover how and why India is evolving and modernising through its people: their lives and aspirations, as well as preserving and living the traditions that have formed it over centuries.
Alexander Armstrong said: “I am thrilled to be going back on the road with Burning Bright Productions. We have had such adventures in the past, and I couldn’t be more excited about heading out to India for the next one!”
This series will explore India’s fascinating history, in India’s capital, New Delhi, to find out what it’s like living in India’s most populous city. In Jaipur, Rajasthan, the “Land of Kings”, Alexander marvels at the vibrant architecture which remains proudly untouched from outside influences.
In Mumbai, Maharashtra Alexander visits India’s financial epicentre to meet India’s one-percenters. Heading south to Bangalore, Karnataka, Alexander embraces the entrepreneurial spirit of one of India’s more recent boomtowns to find out what life is like in India’s answer to ‘Silicon Valley’.
Celebrating people, culture, history and modernity, Alexander’s journey takes him on an exploration of India’s past, present and future.
Guy Davies, Commissioning Editor, Unscripted, 5 added: “India is at a historic point, as the country and its people take a new role in the world order. Both a stunning country-wide journey, and an exploration of a nation at a turning point, this isn’t really Alexander’s view of India - it’s the people who will tell him how this amazing country is changing in these extraordinary, yet also unpredictable times.”
Clive Tulloh, Executive Producer at Burning Bright Productions commented: “Alexander Armstrong’s adventures are always a fun and perceptive way to view a country and Alexander brings humour and thoughtfulness that make him the perfect travel companion.”
Filming begins later this year.
