Alan Carr is to embark on the search of his very own castle for new Disney+ series Alan Carr: Castle Man, the streamer has announced. The new series will be produced by Expectation.

Alan Carr said: "Some men when they have a midlife crisis buy a Lamborghini or grow a ponytail, but me - I want my very own castle. Since I was a boy in Northampton, I've always dreamt big, and have always been enchanted with the history and romance of a stately home and as I turn 50, I feel it’s my time. All I want is a turret to call my own - get me over that drawbridge!"
Ben Wicks, creative director, entertainment and executive producer at Expectation, added: "What an incredible project. Alan Carr looking to buy a castle befitting his status as comedy royalty and a national treasure, and soon finding himself responsible for the very real, right royal pain of making it all work. We’re delighted to be following Alan’s dramatic and undoubtedly hilarious journey and doing so with Disney, who thankfully have a great deal more history with castles."
Meanwhile, the comedian has reportedly piloted a new comedy entertainment format for the BBC - a UK version of Norwegian TV format Nation's Dumbest. Revealed by Broadcast, it's reported that a not-for-broadcast pilot of the comedy gameshow was filmed, produced by BBC Studios.
Nation’s Dumbest is the first ever television show where the loser is the winner. Celebrities fight it out to be eliminated from the competition as quickly as possible to avoid being crowned the nation’s dumbest. From influencers to wrestlers, comedians to politicians, the contestants are put to the test in a series of entertaining physical and mental rounds in this successful, relatable, and family-friendly show about all the things you really should know.
Next month, The Celebrity Traitors winner Alan will team up with Countdown's Susie Dent for new Channel 4 series Secret Genius. The six-part series will see people from each of the four regions of the UK come to take part in immersive and ambitious challenges that will test all aspects of their brain power. Celebrating all things cerebral, Alan and Susie will explain the tasks and games -no matter how complex and mind-bending- and encourage viewers to play along and find out if they too have what it takes to be a genius.
Made in consultation with British Mensa, the series will be an uplifting and surprising journey of self-discovery for those taking part and will challenge us all to rethink what it means to be a genius.
More details will be announced in due course.
