5 have quietly axed Mum's On Strike (formerly Wife On Strike), which took a look at modern domestic life, after one series.

In this series, over-whelmed partners say enough is enough as they hand over the sole running of the house – and all the mayhem and madness that goes with it – to their unwilling and ill-prepared other halves.

But these over-worked and undervalued 'strikers' won't just be walking out - they'll hatch plans to force domestic revolution and shake up the status quo.

Provocative and revealing, this series lifts the veil on households across the UK as they reach boiling point…something has to change!

A source told MailOnline: "Wife On Strike was reminiscent of the Wife Swap days when millions of nosey viewers would tune in for their reality fix. But it just failed to catch on with the audience and was underperforming in the highly competitive prime time slot where original dramas could easily pull in double the numbers. While the rest of the series eventually aired under a new name, a decision was made to quietly rest the show with no further episodes planned."

Wife on Strike was commissioned by Channel 5’s Denise Seneviratne.
