WALK THE LINE AXED BY ITV AFTER ONE SERIES

ITV music gameshow Walk The Line, from the mind of Simon Cowell, has been axed after one series, ITV have officially confirmed.

The series, which aired across a week in December 2021, was hosted by Maya Jama with judges Gary Barlow, Alesha Dixon, Dawn French and Craig David.

The format saw contestants aim to win a life changing prize of £500,000. To win the money, they had to take to the stage and perform to the nation.

The contestant with the most votes at the end of the night faced an impossible decision - whether to cash out or physically Walk The Line and risk it all to stay in the competition.

The series ultimately failed to gain a large enough audience to justify a second series. The opening episode - scheduled just before the final of I'm A Celebrity - was watched by 3 million people. The audience throughout the series fell to 1.8m.

A source told the Mail Online earlier this year: "After The X Factor ended, Walk The Line was the show Simon hoped would save him. Alas, that wasn’t to be, and it won’t be back."

Walk The Line is available to watch on ITV Hub. The news was confirmed by ITV's Head Of Entertainment at this year's Edinburgh Television Festival.
