VANISHED: DAN WALKER TO FRONT CHANNEL 5 MISSING PERSONS SERIES
Channel 5 have commissioned Vanished (4x60') from ITN Productions, which will focus on stories of currently missing people, plus those who have disappeared in recent years.
It follows the one-off special with Dan Walker last month which focused on the case of Nicola Bulley. Walker returns as host the series, which will seek to shed new light on missing people from a range of cases.
The four-part series will include appeals for information and helplines for those who are missing to make contact with, as well as providing updates on recent cases, whose which had positive resolutions and the cases which still remain unsolved. Dan Walker will be joined each week in the studio by loved ones of those who are missing, as well as police and experts from missing people charities.
Chanel 5 commissioner Daniel Pearl said: “It is clearly a sensitive and emotional subject, and ITN Productions will work closely with the families, friends and the primary organisations, including relevant police forces and charities, involved in missing persons cases.”
ITN's Ian Rumsey added: “There are a vast number of reasons why people go missing in the UK - and each case has its own unique causes and consequences. This is an important series for us to make and the stories we highlight will be handled sensitively. We want Vanished to assist the police and also support the families and loved ones of some of the thousands of people who go missing every year."
More details will be announced in due course.
