THE X FACTOR: DOCUMENTARY SERIES ON ITV TALENT SHOW IN DEVELOPMENT AT SKY

A three-part documentary series about The X Factor is reportedly in development at Sky, The Sun newspaper is reporting.

The new series, yet to be formally greenlit, would explore all aspects of the ITV talent contest which ran from 2004 until it was dropped after the 2019 series. The Sun newspaper reports Simon Cowell is in talks to give his contribution to the documentary.

A source told the newspaper: "This will be a definitive, ­premium series about a true entertainment TV ­jugg­ernaut. Those closest to the story will be approached to be in the show, both in front of and behind the camera, and discussions are ongoing. It follows on from Sky Docs’ history of authentic and unfiltered documentaries, notably the recent ­Boyzone biopic."

It follows reports in 2022 that a documentary was in development which would reveal "devastating allegations" of "bully exploitation and harassment" experienced by former contestants on the show.

The outlet reports that "a number" of former X Factor contestants have agreed to take part, with at least one of Simon Cowell's aides - who no longer works for him - also taking part. Evidently, this documentary never progressed.
