THE PIANO SET FOR SECOND SERIES ON CHANNEL 4 AFTER RATINGS SUCCESS
New reports suggest Channel 4 are eyeing up a double commission for The Piano, with a second and third series on the cards. TV Zone exclusively revealed in March that Channel 4 were set to commission a second series.
The Piano celebrates the nation’s favourite instrument by inviting talented amateur pianists to play on public pianos in London St Pancras, Leeds, Glasgow and Birmingham train stations, sharing their stories and music with the great British public.
Hosted by Claudia Winkleman with judges classical pianist Lang Lang and pop superstar Mika, the series has proved a hit for Channel 4. Most episodes consolidated to over 3 million viewers, achieved 1 million online streams and over 5 million social media views.
Further series are understood to only be in the development stages at the moment, however ATV Today reports that Channel 4 are set to hand the show a double recommission.
From nonagenarians who have been playing for eighty years to twelve-year-olds who have never played in pubic before, commuters in train stations across the country will be stopped in their tracks as heartfelt, emotional and uplifting performances take place.
The Piano is available now on Channel 4 online.
