THE LARKINS 'SET TO BE AXED' AFTER TWO SERIES ON ITV

ITV is reportedly planning to axe The Larkins after two series.

The two series of six-episodes starred Bradley Walsh and Joanna Scanlan as the iconic fictional characters, Pop Larkin and his wife Ma.

The Larkins is a television adaptation of H.E. Bates’ novel The Darling Buds of May, written by acclaimed screenwriter Simon Nye (Finding Alice, The Durrells, Men Behaving Badly), which had the aim of "capturing the warmth, optimism and escapism of The Larkin family for a modern generation".

A source told The Sun: "The Larkins is going to be dropped in the new year — the writing is on the wall. The ratings for series two were disappointingly low and cast disagreements on set have been an ongoing problem for the production team...

"Sabrina’s issue with Tok and her decision to leave, was a massive problem for the bosses. But there have also been other disagreements."

TV Zone has approached ITV and Objective Media Group for comment.

Previous series of The Larkins are available on ITVX.
