SUMMER PROGRAMMING HIGHLIGHTS, NEW AND RETURNING TITLES REVEALED

The new and returning titles airing this Summer revealed.

 ANN DROID

In a world where AI is looming larger and ever present, Ann Droid asks the question: what is replaceable and what is not? As funny, as it is poignant – Ann Droid tells the story of an unlikely friendship between Sue (Sue Johnston) and Linda (Diane Morgan) a social humanoid robot, created to keep elderly people company and monitor their health.

 THE GREAT BRITISH SEWING BEE

Ready, steady, sew! Amateur sewers compete to impress judges Patrick Grant and Esme Young, hoping to be crowned Britain’s most sensational seamster.

 A HOUSE THROUGH TIME

Returning for its sixth series, A House Through Time, once again presented by Professor David Olusoga, embarks on an exciting new chapter in Scotland's world-famous capital. Edinburgh’s spectacular volcanic landscape and equally dramatic history offer the perfect backdrop to BBC Two’s landmark historical investigation, revealing a new version of our nation’s past through the lives of the ordinary people all living within the walls of a single house.

 LUDWIG

Picking up from the end of series one, master puzzle-setter John ‘Ludwig’ Taylor (David Mitchell) is now a Crime Scene Consultant, working alongside DCI Russell Carter (Dipo Ola), on ‘impossible’ crimes for the Cambridge Police Authority. No longer having to masquerade as his brother, he’s openly more ‘Ludwig’ than ever - brilliant at solving puzzles but hopeless at everything else.

 THE CHASE AROUND THE WORLD

Hosted by Bradley Walsh, The Chase Around the World is an exciting new prime time format from the creators of ITV’s award-winning and globally successful game show, The Chase.

The brand-new six-part series sees six pairs of contestants embark on a global adventure competition as they attempt to track down the biggest brains in Britain - all six of The Chasers - in undisclosed locations around the globe. Unravelling puzzles along the way, the winning pair will pit their knowledge against The Chasers in order to win a life-changing prize pot.

 THE DARK

The Dark, based upon GR Halliday’s debut novel, From the Shadows, stars Laura Donnelly (The Nevers, Sugar), as Scottish Detective Monica Kennedy and Mark Rowley (Trigger Point, Karen Pirie) as Detective Connor Crawford.

When the body of a young man is found eerily staged in the idyllic Scottish wilderness, detective Monica Kennedy fears this is just the beginning of a terrifying campaign that will strike the heart of a rural community. As paranoia rises, suspicions and secrets are forced into the light, and the locals start to realise that there is a serial killer hidden amongst them.

With her experience of dealing with the darkest of humanity Monica Kennedy quickly becomes entangled in a heightened game of cat and mouse with a cunning killer. Only she can stop this monster before he claims any more victims. But when her own history creeps up on her, she begins to lose trust in her own judgement. Will it be her own actions that are the biggest risk to herself and her family?

 VAN DER VALK

Marc Warren (Safe, Mad Dogs, Hustle) reprises the titular role of Commissaris Piet Van Der Valk in the fourth series of detective drama Van Der Valk which is filmed entirely on location in and around Amsterdam. The street-smart detective is once again joined by Maimie McCoy as Inspector Lucienne Hassell, Sergeant Eddie Suleman played by Azan Ahmed, Darrell D’Silva as team pathologist Hendrik Davie and Emma Fielding as Chief Commissaris Julia Dahlman

 LOVE IS BLIND UK

Love Is Blind UK, hosted by Emma & Matt Willis, is a social experiment dating series where single men and women look for love and get engaged, all before meeting in person.

They’ll go on dates with a catch: they don’t meet face-to-face. With no distractions from the outside world, the singles talk to potential love interests and when a meaningful connection is made, they propose before laying their eyes on their fiancé for the first time.

 HEARTSTOPPER FOREVER

In the special, Nick and Charlie are inseparable, but with Nick preparing to leave for university and Charlie finding new independence at school, the reality of a long-distance relationship begins to weigh on them.

 THE CROW GIRL

Season 2 sees DCI Jeanette Kilburn's hunt for the killers of young male asylum seekers take a shocking new turn, as a mummified body discovered in a church wall, and a body in a freezer, reveal a chilling connection. As Jeanette digs deeper, Dr. Sophia Craven begins to suspect Victoria Burkeman, her mysterious and unstable former patient could be responsible. With the case growing darker, Sophia suspects Victoria is more familiar than she thought, and Jeanette must face the terrifying truth: the killer may be closer than she ever imagined.

 UNACCEPTABLE

Unacceptable (6x60) is a new fast-paced comedy panel show, hosted by award-winning stand-up comedian, writer and podcaster Ed Gamble, where comedians battle it out to convince the studio audience of some downright outrageous opinions. 

 KATIE PRICE: NOTHING TO HIDE

The archive-led retrospective brings a documentary lens to Katie’s story, combining extraordinary unseen footage with first-time, candid testimony from those closest to Katie – family, friends, professional and personal relationships, and those who have entered her orbit over the past three decades.  

Since emerging as her alter ego ‘Jordan’ on Page 3 of The Sun in 1996, Katie Price has become one of the most photographed women of her generation. Her life has played out across newspapers, magazines, reality television and social media - from marriages, motherhood and multi-million pound contracts to scandal, cosmetic surgery, bankruptcy and betrayal.  

 TRYING

Season five finds Nikki (Smith) and Jason (Spall) dealing with the consequences of Princess (Scarlett Rayner) and Tyler’s (Cooper Turner) biological mother, Kat (Charlotte Riley), turning up at their doorstep, and the whirlwind of chaos she brings into their settled family life.

The ensemble cast also includes BAFTA Award winner Darren Boyd (“Down Cemetery Road”), BAFTA Award nominee Siân Brooke (“Blue Lights”), Actor Award nominee Celia Imrie (“The Thursday Murder Club”), BAFTA Award nominee Phil Davis (“Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince”), BAFTA Award winner Gbemisola Ikumelo (“Black Ops”) and Actor Award nominee Colin Morgan (“Belfast”).
