JAMIE BORTHWICK ELIMINATED FROM STRICTLY COME DANCING

Jamie Borthwick and Michelle Tsiakkas have left the competition following a dance off against Montell Douglas and Johannes Radebe during the ninth results show of the series.

Both couples performed their routines again; Jamie and Michelle performed their Foxtrot to Stand By Me by Ben E. King. Then, Montell and Johannes performed their Quickstep to Get Happy by Ella Fitzgerald.

After both couples had danced a second time, the judges delivered their verdicts: Craig Revel Horwood chose to save Montell and Johannes. Motsi Mabuse chose to save Montell and Johannes. Anton Du Beke chose to save Montell and Johannes.

With three votes in favour of Montell and Johannes, they won the majority vote meaning that Jamie and Michelle would be leaving the competition. Head Judge Shirley Ballas also agreed and said she would have decided to save Montell and Johannes.

When asked by Tess about his time on the show, Jamie said: “Strictly is magic. That is all I can say. Strictly is magic. Not just everyone who you see in front of the camera, these four here [the judges], but everyone who works on this show. I have such a good bond and relationship with and that's what made me want to do this show, it’s the people, not what I'm doing...

"I've had the best time. I could ramble on all day about this one [Michelle]. She's a new pro and she's absolutely been the most amazing teacher. We have laughed like you wouldn’t believe. I have nothing but the utmost respect for everyone on the show, so thank you.”

Michelle added: “I just want to say it goes without saying Jamie is an amazing dancer, and he's improved so much week by week. He's worked so hard to get to where he is. It's my first year with a partner and I've realised that it's so much more than just the dancing and the technique, it's the bonds and the friendships that you make. I waited two years for a partner and I wouldn't have had it any other way.”

Sunday’s results show also features a phenomenal performance from the Sugababes, who perform a medley of hits Overload, Freak Like Me and Push The Button, plus our professional dancers put on a passionate and sultry performance to Zara Larson’s With Every Heartbeat.

Saturday night’s show also featured the return of the Dance-A-Thon where all of the competing couples shimmied back on to the Ballroom floor for a group Samba before the judges eliminated couples one by one until JB Gill and his partner Lauren Oakley were crowned the winners.

The remaining six couples will take to the dancefloor next week for the quarter final stage of the competition when Strictly Come Dancing returns live on BBC One and iPlayer on Saturday 30th November at 19:05. The results show will air on Sunday 1st December at 19:20 on BBC One and iPlayer.

Both of this weekend’s episodes are available to watch now via BBC iPlayer.
