Following reports by TV Zone last month, UKTV have confirmed that studio gameshow Silence Is Golden won't be returning for a second series.

Airing earlier this year, the show sees a studio audience is given £250,000 but there’s a green room of entertainers headed up by Katherine Ryan, Seann Walsh and Fatiha El-Ghorri attempting to bring the prize pot down.
Every single noise any audience member makes loses them all money. Each episode begins with the studio audience getting £250,000 to share between them. All they need to do to keep it...is not make a sound.
With every audience member mic'ed up, all hell breaks loose as a green room of 30 acts, led by three returning comedian captains, headed up by Katherine Ryan, wage war on the audience, with every sound forced out of them bringing the total prize money down. It's entertainers vs audience - they're not on the same side. If the entertainers get the prize pot to zero, they get to give money to charity.
Speaking at the Edinburgh TV Festival, UKTV execs revealed: "[Battle In The Box and Silence Is Golden] both fantastic shows and maybe in another universe we might be keeping both of those shows at the moment landing shows at that budget and scale that's not where our heads are at. We are really looking to try and do something different so we can bring it back in volume. They are great producers and we have absolutely work loved working with both of them."
A UKTV spokesperson has since said: "Silence Is Golden will not be returning for a second series. We’d like to thank everyone at Yes Yes Media for working on such a fun show together, as well as our brilliant host Dermot O’Leary, our wonderful team captains the comedians and acts who took part and everyÂÂone in the studio audience."
