RIVER CITY: FIRST LOOK IMAGES AND AIR DATE CONFIRMED FOR FINAL EPISODE OF BBC SCOTLAND DRAMA
First look images have been released today of the forthcoming must-see finale of River City, BBC Scotland’s drama series which comes to an end on Monday 31 August 2026 after 24 years on screen.
In the images, a bloodied Lenny Murdoch (played by Frank Gallagher) stands amidst dramatic fire scene. Meanwhile, Bob O’Hara (Stephen Purdon) looks pensive as he walks Montego Street in Shieldinch.
River City will draw to close in an hour-long special episode on Monday 31 August at 9pm on BBC iPlayer and the BBC Scotland channel. It will then be followed by a special one-off documentary, River City: The Last Take, at 10pm on the same night.
In the eagerly anticipated finale, Lenny and Harry’s (Jim Sturgeon) bitter rivalry leads to an intense showdown; love and marriage is key for some Shieldinch residents; while new beginnings beckon at The Tall Ship.
The final episode is followed by one-off documentary, River City: The Last Take, which will reunite the cast to celebrate over two decades of laughter, love and plenty of drama in Shieldinch.
With exclusive behind-the-scenes access to the last week of filming, emotional reunions, unforgettable clips as well as memories from devoted fans, the documentary takes viewers on one last wander down Montego Street.
The cast – including Stephen Purdon, Sally Howitt, Frank Gallagher, Jacqueline Leonard, Jordan Young, Carmen Pieraccini, Grant Stott and Gayle Telfer Stevens - reunite for an emotional, funny and revealing insight into the moments that defined the drama.
