PREVIEW: Baby Surgeons - Delivering Miracles, Channel 4

Filmed in one of the UK's leading foetal medicine units, Baby Surgeons: Delivering Miracles tells the stories of pregnancy and childbirth through the eyes of the women and the medical teams who treat them.

This episode follows three sets of expectant parents navigating complex pregnancies under the care of the unit's clinical lead, Professor Basky Thilaganathan. Becky's unborn baby has a rare lung tumour. The tumour is growing rapidly, causing the baby to go into heart failure. Basky must laser the tumour's blood vessel to stop it growing.

If left untreated, the baby will die inside the womb within days. Ann-Marie is carrying identical twins. One of the twins has selective growth restriction and is at risk of dying. If the twin dies, the larger twin may not survive either. Ann-Marie and her partner face an agonising wait to see whether the twins will continue to grow, or whether they may lose the entire pregnancy. Randika and her husband both have a form of restricted growth, known as dwarfism.

Basky needs to closely monitor Randika's pregnancy to ensure her baby survives delivery.

Baby Surgeons: Delivering Miracles begins Monday 26th April at 9pm on Channel 4.
