Over the next 10 weeks, 12 of the best amateur bakers in Britain will whisk, knead, ice, beat and bake their way through classic British cakes, perfect patisserie, Italian delights, sticky caramel constructions and elaborate layered puddings.

All Twelve will be hoping to impress with their skill, creativity, knowledge and passion and clinch the Bake off Crown. Each of the 30 challenges have been carefully designed by judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith to reveal just who is a star baker.
Hosts Noel Fielding and Alison Hammond will be with the bakers every step of the way, ready with a pertinent pep talk, a helpful hand or just a sympathetic shoulder to cry on.
After each episode later in the week, An Extra Slice will follow all of the events in the tent, showing exclusive footage and unseen moments. Each week Jo Brand and Tom Allen will be joined by celebrity fans of the show who will offer their verdict on each week’s bakes and debate their favourite baker.
Jo, Tom and guests will also get to sample some of the ambitious bakes brought in by the eager studio audience. As the GBBO bakers leave the tent and the competition they will appear alongside Jo to relive their best bakes and biggest mistakes of The Great British Bake Off.

First up is cake week, in which the hopefuls must produce a Swiss roll with an inlay design, work out how to make fondant fancies in the technical and serve up a stunning landscape cake in the showstopper round.
The Great British Bake Off returns Tuesday 2nd September at 8pm on Channel 4.
